Best Night Clubs in Beijing

If you are travelling to Beijing and are only able to stay for a short period of time, these are your best options for a guaranteed good time.

1. Club Vics

vics

VICS nightclub gives travellers a clubbing experience unique to any other venue in Beijing. VICS plays a mix of Top 40, pop, reggae and hip hop to passionate drunkards.  VICS offers a fun and foreign friendly place to party for tourists.   Wednesday night is LADY’S NIGHT, which provides free entrance and drinks for girls.

Website http://www.vics.com.cn/

Address : Workers Stadium north gate, Beijing

Open Time : Daily 7:00pm – 4:00am

Phone : 86-10-65936215

2. Spark Night Club

spark

Spark nightclub promises to get you dancing, conversing with the city’s sexiest  individuals and offers an unique lighting scheme. It’s a little classier than the usual clubs around the Workers Stadium (MIX/LUXY/BABYFACE).   Many Taiwanese enjoy going there because is the sister club of one of Taipei’s most popular nightclubs, Spark Taipei.

English Address: B108, The Place, 9 Guanghua Lu.

3. Club Suzie Wong

Buzzing bar scene, Suzie Wong's, Beijing

Come well dressed to this staple of the Beijing nightclub scene.  Many models and wannabe actor/actress frequent this establishment to hobnob with Beijing’s social elite.  Two rooms both play everything from Top 40 to Hip-Hop. One of the more chic places I’ve partied at in Beijing.  Drinks are expensive by Beijing standards so make sure you pre-drink!

Website: http://www.clubsuziewong.com/

English Address: West Gate of Chaoyang Park

Chinese Address:

Open Time: Daily 7:00pm to 5:00am

Phone:86-10-6500-3377

4. Mix

MIX

Right across from Vics. Music is somewhat repetitive.  Two main rooms.  If you switch rooms you are liable to hear the same songs over and over.  Drinks are also expensive. 40 RMB for a bottle of water. WTF? Occasionally hosts top quality international DJs, Mix is known as a hot spot for the hook-up if you are a local.  Most rich Chinese clubbers go here and order a huge bottle of whiskey and sit in booths.  Not as foreign friendly as the other spots.

English Address: Inside Worker’s Stadium North Gate

Chinese Address:

Open Time: Daily Daily 8pm to 6:00am

Phone:86-10-6506-9888,86-10-6530-2889

5. Wu

wu_0

This is the place to hit if you are from 18-25 and staying in the Wudaokou area.  It’s still geared towards the student crowd with Top 40 hits blaring, cheap drinks and depending on the night ALL YOU CAN DRINK, but it’s got a clean look and great space management.

English Address: 1/F, NW corner, Wudaokou U-Center. 28 Chengfu Rd, Haidian, Beijing, China

Chinese Address: U-Center

Open Time: Daily 8:00pm to 5:00am

South Koreans Drink 4X as much as Americans!

soju

This is the absolute truth. Ha.  I’ve lived in both countries.  South Koreans take drinking to another level.   Trying mixing Soju with coca cola or Soju with beer.  Tastes Grrrrrrrreat. The biggest alcohol drinkers on the globe aren’t cuddled up somewhere in sub-zero Siberia; they’re sipping on Soju, in South Korea.

The Art of Nanpa: The Osaka Love Thief

Here is a great documentary on the art of “Nanpa”. Nanpa is seen most often in young heterosexual men ranging from their late teens to mid-twenties. Groups of “Nanpa boys” will gather around places with busy, predominantly female foot traffic (bridges, subway stations, shopping malls, etc.) and approach women in search of a date. The Nanpa groups generally wear high fashion with nice suits, expensive shoes, and extravagant hair styles. Because of their style of dress, Nanpa boys are occasionally misinterpreted by foreigners as employees of host clubs, who also roam such areas speaking with various women. If you are in Osaka near Shinsaibashi you will see this in droves.

BlackLight Inaugural Pub Crawl…………..Sanlitur (Sanlitun, Beijing)

Last weekend BlackLight held its first, and certainly not last Pub Crawl.  The BlackLight Nation took over Saniltun in Beijng.  We had 15 people show up for the first event.  The stops included Kai Bar, Kokomo, Red,  First Floor, Bar Blu and The Door.   Reviews for each of these bars will be posted in the near future. We lost some good men and women along the way but all in all it was success.    Keep checking the website for info on the next BL Pub Crawl nearest you.

Club Azure………………….Ark Shinsaibashi West.B1F, 2-17-3 Nishi-Shinsaibashi Chuo-ku Osaka Osaka, Japan

CLUB AZURE has been a staple of the Osaka underground hip hop scene for years.  Its one of the reasons why I think clubbing in Osaka wicked.  You have your bigger venues such as Pure and Grand Cafe that play more recent hip hop tunes.  But then you have venues like Azure that stay true to the roots of  the music.  This place gets packed quickly so get there early.  The size of the venue gives live shows  a more intimate feel then at other places.  I had the honor of seeing my favourite DJ (DJ Premier) there and it was a show I’ll never forget.  I knew some of the people running the event so I was able to see, up close, Primo do his thing on the ones and twos.   Azure caters to the reggae and R & B heads as well.   Check out their website to find out more info on special events.

Grand Cafe…………….(Osaka, Japan Hachiman-suji, 2-10-21 Nishi-Shinsaibashi)

Grand Cafe is one of the more classier hip-Hop clubs in Osaka. In not only caters to you hip-hop fans but it also has a nice mix of techo/dance/electronic nights spread throughout the week. Its best nights are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Sunday night Safari jams are not to be missed. You will hear some of the best hip-hop music in Osaka. It gets really packed inside side so if you are claustrophobic need not enter. There are two rooms in the club, one with a huge dance floor and another smaller room where people talk and mingle. I usually stay in the smaller room in order to avoid the madness of dancers bumping into me. The drinks are more expensive than in the other clubs I have discussed on my page but this is an overall better venue. The crowd is a little older so the vibe is more chill than Pure or Sam & Dave.

SAM & DAVE …………Osaka, Japan

SAM & DAVE is a great venue to listen to hip-hop music if you are ever in Osaka. You can occasionally hear the odd old school rap song but in general it’s catered to the new school brand of hip-hop. The crowd is diverse with a mix of expats and Japanese people. The Japanese people I met in S & D were friendly and enjoyed talking to foreigners. There is a spacious dance floor but also booths to sit in if you just want to chill. I’ve been to Sam & Dave’s many times I don’t remember it closing. Rumors are that it actually closes at 8am. To be honest, I can’t verify that. I usually left after the sun was out and the dance floor was still packed. There are S&D’s in Kyoto, Osaka and Fukuoka. My personal favourite is the Shinsaibashi branch. It’s in close proximity to other bars in the area which makes in a great after hours spot if you’re not done partying. Drinks are affordable and people actually dance which makes it a great place to check out.

Club Pure: Osaka, Japan

One of my favourite places to hit when Im in Osaka. Its all you can drink, all night. Its a little more expensive than other all you can drink spots in Asia but this place actually serves real alcohol. Some of the best Hip-Hop you can hear in Osaka is at Pure and the people are friendly. I had some of my best nights in Japan in this Club. Friday nights are a little more chill if you dont wanna fight a crowd. Saturday night is when everybody comes out. If you hit Osaka and like hip-hop I definitely recommend reaching this spot until the a.m. It right off of Shinsaibashi Street in Namba.
